BANDS
Concert Season
When students join the West Brook Band program, they are placed into one of three concert bands based on their ability.
Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble consists of advanced players and has a limited number of spots. This ensemble meets during the academic schedule. It is a mix of 9th-12th grade students. The Wind Ensemble participates in UIL events that require extra rehearsals to prepare. These students are encouraged to try out for Region 10 Band and participate in the UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition. They also perform in the Christmas and Spring Concerts. The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Mr. David McKinney
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band consists of students of considerable playing abilities. This ensemble meets during the academic schedule. It is a mix of 9th-12th grade students. The Symphonic Band participates in UIL events that require extra rehearsals to prepare. They also perform in the Christmas and Spring Concerts. The Symphonic Band is under the direction of Mrs. Stephanie Alcantara
SOUNDPOWER
SOUNDPOWER consists of all the woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard students.
SOUNDPOWER rehearses together after school during Marching Season. The marching band performs at school pep rallies, varsity football games (home and away), local parades, and marching band competitions. Our Marching Band is our most publicly visible ensemble and the students involved enjoy performing for large audiences from all around the state while maintaining a high level of musical and visual achievement
Concert Band
The Concert Band is an
ensemble that focuses on
playing fundamentals.
Reading skills and tone
production are the primary
focus of this band. The
ensemble meets during the
academic schedule. It is a mix
of 9th-12th grade students.
The Concert Band
performs in the Christmas and
Spring Concerts. No one is left
out! The Concert Band is under
the direction of Mr. David
McKinney and Mrs. Stephanie
Alcantara
Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is in
addition to regular band
classes and is strictly by
audition. The Jazz Band meets
during the academic schedule. It
is a mix of 9th-12th grade
students.
The Jazz Band participates in
Solo and Ensemble competition,
performs in the Christmas and
Spring Concert as well as other
community events.
They may also participate in UIL
sanctioned events.
